Irene H. Smith, 94

Irene H. Smith died Monday, May 28, 2018 at Koda Living Community in Owatonna. Mass of Christian Burial is set for Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (810 S Cedar Ave, Owatonna.) Friends may greet the family one hour before the funeral liturgy.
Irene was born April 25, 1924 in Havana Township rural Steele County the daughter of Anton and Helen (Spinler) Kubista. She attended country school in Havana Township. During the war, she worked at OTC and later at Jostens in Owatonna. Irene was united in marriage to Leo Smith on June 20, 1950 at Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna. The couple made their home in Austin where she was a homemaker raising her children. Irene was active in church activities throughout her life. Life interests include gardening, fishing and entertaining at her cabin on Lake Mazaska, traveling around the United States and playing Scrabble.
Irene is survived by her children Mike (Barb) Smith of Ankeny, IA, Mona (Don) Adams of Minnetonka, Jim (Renae) Smith of Prior Lake, MN. Seven Grandchildren and 10 Great-grandchildren. Brother George (Lucille) Kubista of Waseca, sister-in-law Donna Kubista of Owatonna. Preceded in death by husband Leo, brothers Jerome and Bernard. Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Church.
