Dorothy Teresa Rysavy, age 93, of Owatonna, died peacefully on August 16, 2017, at Brookdale Assisted living in Owatonna, surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born in Somerset Township to parents Walter and Martha (Jirele) Langr. She grew up on a farm, and graduated from OHS in 1942. After high school, she met her lifelong love, Evan Rysavy, and the couple was married on June 25, 1946, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Litomysl. Dorothy spent most of her life as a homemaker, tirelessly dedicated to raising her 6 children and keeping a spotless home. She also worked in the kitchen at St. Mary's School. Always generous with her time, Dorothy was a volunteer driver taking the elderly to medical appointments, drove for Meals on Wheels, cleaned homes and ran errands for homebound relatives and friends, was a rosary leader for the St. Theresa Guild, and a funeral rosary leader. Dorothy's hobbies included crocheting, reading, canning almost anything that grew, dancing the polka, playing Pinochle, assembling puzzles and watching her beloved grandchildren's sporting events.
She is survived by her children, Donald (Jane) Rysavy of Florida, Mary (Kevin) Herzog of Hope, Jim (Mitzi) Rysavy of Owatonna, Bill Rysavy of Burnsville, Charlie (Fran) Rysavy of New Jersey, and George (Sherry) Rysavy of Owatonna, her 13 grandchildren, her 6 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Rita Brockmeyer of Mankato.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Evan, her parents, her sister Martha Styndl, and her brother, Lawrence Langr.
