Bernard P. Hruska, age 94, lifelong resident of Steele County, died March 19, 2018 at Traditions II in Owatonna. Funeral service is set for Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Brick – Meger Funeral Home (1603 – Austin Road, Owatonna.). Friends may greet the family 1.5 hours prior to the time of the funeral, starting at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Medford, with military rites being provided by the Steele County Funeral Unit.

Bernard was born March 17, 1924 to parents Joseph and Agnes (Horn) Hruska in Owatonna, MN. He attended District 75 country school in Deerfield Township. He married Dorothy Guimond June 29, 1942 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Deerfield Township.
Bernard was drafted into the United States Army in 1945 and served in Germany during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1947 and came back to the area to work as a welder at OMC for several years.
Bernard worked on the family farm in Havana Township for over 50 years. He and his wife Dorothy moved into Owatonna in 2011. His hobbies included playing cards, pool, collecting and recycling pop cans. He was a member of the Owatonna V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Survived by wife Dorothy, of 75 years; daughter, Patricia "Pat" (Al) Schroeder, of Savage, MN; daughter-in-law, Linda Hruska, of Waseca; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister Dorothy Gasner, of Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents; an infant child; daughter, Frances; son, Gerald; one granddaughter, Carol; two great-grandsons, Jack Schroeder and Edger Rios Hruska; two brothers, Ed and Frank; and two sisters, Adeline Wilke and Frances "Erma" Hansen. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Heartland Hospice Care or MOCA (Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance).
